 2023 Preview

Lee finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Lee just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region eight with a 1-4 region record.

Lee struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.2 points a game.

Since 2010, Lee has gone a combined 46-88. Their 34.3% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 6A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Lee has managed to compile a record of 101-161. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 6A and 306th in the AHSAA.

The Generals are led by head coach Irving McGuire who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-13 over the past two seasons at Lee. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach McGuire.

The Generals will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season.

The Generals open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Westminster Christian on Friday, August 25 at Milton Frank Stadium. Last year the Westminster Christian Wildcats finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 4A region eight. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to West Morgan by a score of 27-7.

Lee and Westminster Christian have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Generals have a 2-2-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2022 with Westminster Christian winning by a score of 44-23.
